Contrato postdoctoral Universidad de Oviedo

Próximamente se convocará un contrato postdoctoral para trabajar en el Departamento de Biología Funcional (Área Microbiología) de la Universidad de Oviedo sobre activación de rutas de biosíntesis de antibióticos y antitumorales en actinomicetos bajo la dirección del Dr. José Antonio Salas Fernández.

Las personas interesadas deberán estar en posesión del título de Doctor en áreas relacionadas con las Ciencias de la Vida o de la Salud. Se valorará positivamente la experiencia en trabajo con microorganismos, particularmente actinomicetos, y especialmente en biología molecular.

El contrato se iniciaría en Enero 2017 hasta Diciembre 2017, pudiendo ser prorrogado por otros dos períodos anuales. La convocatoria oficial y detalles de la misma aparecerán en la web de la Universidad de Oviedo en la primera quincena de Noviembre.

                                      Candidates for PhD study in mitochondrial pathophysiology


The Group of Functional Genetics of the Oxidative phosphorylation System Lab at CNIC, headed by Jose Antonio Enríquez, is searching for candidates to perform a PhD study within mitochondrial pathophysiology.

The group researches the mammalian mitochondrial electron transport chain (MtETC) and H+‐ATP synthase, which together constitute the oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) system. This system is viewed as a functional entity, and use a range of approaches aimed at determining its role in health and disease. The group is particularly interested in the role of the OXPHOS system in the development of the cardiovascular system, its relevance to ischemiareperfusion, and its influence on microvascular blood flow. Our laboratory researches the mammalian mitochondrial electron transport chain (MtETC) and H+‐ATP synthase, which together constitute the oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) system.

The student will have cutting‐edge tools for this line of work, including gene modified mice and the last techniques in molecular and biochemical biology.

Candidates should have a keen interest in working with cardiovascular disease models as well as mitochondrial performance

Selection criteria include motivation towards basic research and a strong academic record.

Focus of research group: Enzyme Technology and Biocatalysis

 

European Project (Horizon 2020)entitled: “Expanding the industrial use of Robust oxidative biocatalysts for the conversion and production of alcohols” (ROBOX).

ROBOX Project Objective: In order to achieve the widening of industrial application of enzymatic biooxidation processes, ROBOX will demonstrate the techno-economic viability of biotransformations of four types of oxidative enzymes:

Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (P450s)

Baeyer-Villiger MonoOxygenase (BVMOs)

Alcohol DeHydrogenases (ADHs)

Alcohol OXidases (AOXs)

The ROBOX consortium aims to make biocatalytic alternatives, based on probably the three most important types of enzymatic oxidations (alcohol oxidation, C-H activation and lactonization by monooxygenases) with reduced environmental footprint accessible to large scale chemical synthesis and other industrial conversions. This will be done by the development and demonstration of 11 industrially relevant reactions catalyzed by representatives of four different types of oxidative enzymes, while concomitantly consolidating the corresponding experimental and computational methods into a generic platform of technologies for fast and accurate enzyme activity determination required for enzyme optimization, production and application in a biocatalytic process. This approach will enable the design of highly efficient biocatalysts with an adapted range of substrates of immediate relevance for industrially important conversions.

Proyecto AIRBIOTA
Conocer y Modelizar la Contaminación Biológica del Aire Urbano
Financiado por la Comunidad de Madrid

Proyecto multidisciplinar e innovador cuyo objetivo es determinar la
biodiversidad bacteriana, viral y fúngica, así como del polen, en el aire de
zonas urbanas de Madrid. Se evaluarán diferentes sistemas de muestreo del
aire y se llevarán a cabo estudios metagenómicos de la aerobiota, que
incluirá secuenciación de 16S bacteriano, 18S eucariota, genomas virales
(DNA y RNA) y transcriptómica. El proyecto implica el uso de herramientas
informáticas para analizar los datos derivados de secuenciación masiva.

Se valorará la experiencia en:
- microbiología y virología
- biología molecular y manipulación de material genético
- experiencia en metagenómica
- análisis bioinformático de datos de secuenciación masiva
