11th Conference on Prokaryotic Electron Transfer
The European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB) is organising the 11th International Conference on Prokaryotic Electron Transfer, which will take place in the historic city of Évora, Portugal, from 10–13 March 2027.
Formerly known as Bacterial Electron Transfer Processes and their Regulation, this long-standing conference series brings together an international community of researchers interested in the molecular mechanisms, regulation, and physiological significance of electron transfer in prokaryotes.
The 2027 edition will showcase the latest advances in prokaryotic electron transfer, microbial respiration, bioenergetics, and redox biology, highlighting their importance in microbial physiology, ecology, biotechnology, and medicine. The scientific programme will feature internationally renowned keynote speakers, cutting-edge research, and stimulating discussions across disciplines.
Topics will include:
- Bioenergetics and metabolism
- Redox stress, antibiotics and adaptive responses
- Microbial communities and host–pathogen interactions
- Extracellular electron transfer and electromicrobiology
- Synthetic biology and engineering of microbial electron transfer
- Emerging tools and biotechnological applications
